Vancouver British Columbia, an elegant city that is surrounded by amazing mountains and beauty in general. Summer time in Canada sees the coming of near perfect weather in Vancouver. Planning a hike or trek in the mountains is a must do. You will be exposed to some truly breathe taking landscapes and sites such as Capilano Suspension Bridge, Mount Cheam, St Mark’s Summit, and Garibaldi Lake etc.

A must see is Crown Mountain. Just google an image of this and it will blow you away. It is the most visible peak from downtown Vancouver. Head to the Grouse Sky ride to get to the trail head for a less crowded hiking experience. An alternative or the more commonly used path is the Grouse Grind. The path certainly befits the name as it can be extremely hard on your knees. On the whole it will take you roughly 5 hours to get to the peak and return.

Mount Cheam makes this list as it is probably one of the easiest to climb. The road leading upto the within an hour’s hike of the summit is 90% of the time covered in snow. However you can definitely head over between July and October for a breathe-taking experience. You will definitely need a 4×4 to access the backcountry forest road. Looking to head outside for a nice family trip along a trail that people from all ages can enjoy? Then check out Carmanah Walbran Valley, Strathcona Provincial Park and Mount Finlayson too. It is a divine drive to Camrahan which lasts only 1 hour. Sooke is another place which has a lot of swimming holes and mountain visa hikes. Vancouver really is your tail walkers dream.

If you are the type that needs a challenge then getting to Garibaldi Lake will certainly interest you. A hard trek with endless twists and turns will pave the way to natures finest. You will be stunned by the celestial beauty of the lake. There is a campground on the south side too where you can spend a day. The entire trek should only take you 3 hours but it is definitely recommended to spend a whole day there. You can book at the park page and consider doing other hikes where you can see the Pacific Ocean and the whistler from the same mountain top. There are plenty of wild flowers and rare flora and fauna on display.

The MEC in Broadway is your best place to get hiking gear as well. You get everything from basic ropes and cords to more advanced climbing gear to deal with ice and mountaineering challenges. Protection is very important especially when hiking on steel trails, acquiring rock hardware is also strongly recommended. As they say climbing is all to do with your feet, getting the best footwear is essential for a smooth experience. Always make sure you wear a helmet as well.
